The Facts
Most acne begins at puberty. This is when the body starts to produce
androgen hormones. Androgens cause the over stimulation and enlargement
of the sebaceous glands. Sensitivity to these androgens also cause acne
to appear during the menstrual cycle and occasionally in pregnancy. The
extra sebum or oil that the sebaceous glands produce mixes with dead
skin cells and bacteria on the skin's surface which blocks the pores.
Inside the blocked pore, bacteria multiply and cause inflammation
leading to the spots and pustules associated with acne.
Stress can also cause the production of hormones like cortisol,
which can aggravate acne
Adolescents with
acne may experience a range of emotional and social symptoms:
Social isolation
Decreased self-esteem
Reduced self-confidence
Poor body image
Feelings of embarrassment, depression, anger, preoccupation and
frustration
Missed school, work or social events
There are many
types of pimples. The most common types are:
Whiteheads. These are pimples that stay
under the surface of the skin.
Blackheads. These pimples rise to the
skin's surface and look black. The black color is not from dirt.
Papules. These are small pink bumps that
can be tender.
Pustules. These pimples are red at the
bottom and have pus on top.
Nodules. These are large, painful, solid
pimples that are deep in the skin.
Cysts. These deep, painful, pus-filled
pimples can cause scars.
Causes of Acne:
Exactly why some people get acne and some do not is not fully known. It
is known to be partly hereditary. Several factors are known to be linked
to acne:
Hormonal activity.
Hyperactive sebaceous glands.
Accumulation of dead skin cells.
Bacteria in the pores.
Skin irritation or scratching of any sort.
Anabolic steroids.
Any medication containing halogens (iodides, chlorides, bromides),
lithium, barbiturates, or androgens.
Exposure to high levels of chlorine compounds, particularly chlorinated
dioxins, can cause severe, long-lasting acne, known as Chloracne.
Is Acne Contagious?
Acne is a skin condition and certainly is not contagious to your friends
or family. However, if you pick or squeeze an acne with your fingernails
and then scratch another area, you can contaminate a non-infected
sebaceous duct with bacteria-infected material and cause a new lesion to
arise.
By washing both hands and face on a regular basis and not picking at
acne lesions will help you prevent acne.
Can I wear Make-up?
As long as you choose cosmetics that are nonacnegenic or noncomedogenic,
they shouldn't cause breakouts. Some concealers now in fact contain
benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which help to fight acne. You can
also try tinted benzoyl peroxide creams that hide pimples while helping
treat them.
Correct ways to
wash your face:
Wash your face by gently rotating your soap lathered hands on your face.
Don't use skin clothes for they could irritate your skin.
Use only mild nonabrasive soap
Rinse your face only with warm water.
Dry your face off by gentle pats with a clean towel.

Severe acne often
leaves small scars where the skin gets a "volcanic" shape. Acne
scars are very hard (and expensive) to treat and it is unusual
for the scars to be successfully removed completely. In those
cases, scar treatment may be appropriate. The most commonly used
forms of scar treatments are:
Dermabrasion. The top layer of the
skin is removed to make the scar look less pitted. It makes the
scar less visible but does not remove it completely. Multiple
treatments may be necessary to get the desired results. This
procedure is usually performed by a cosmetic surgeon.
Microdermabrasion is a newer
technique that has a similar effect to traditional dermabrasion,
but is less radical. While dermabrasion is a surgical procedure,
microdermabrasion is performed by blasting tiny crystals at the
skin. Many dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons offer this
procedure.
Laser resurfacing. A laser is used
to burn off the top layer of the skin. This procedure is
commonly known by the brand names of the machines used to
perform it, including SmoothBeam. Many dermatologists and
cosmetic surgeons offer this procedure.
Punch excision. The scar is excised
with a punch tool and the edges are sutured together. This
procedure is usually performed by a cosmetic surgeon.
Chemical peels (also known as acid
peels). A type of organic acid, most commonly glycolic,
salicylic, or lactic, is applied to the skin so that a smoother
layer can surface. Despite its unpleasant name, this procedure
is painless if performed properly and requires no anaesthetic.
Peels are typically performed several times over a period of
weeks or months. The procedure can also be beneficial for active
acne. Many dermatologists and cosmetologists offer this
procedure, although the peels given by dermatologists are
generally of a higher concentration and therefore potentially
more effective.
Subcision. The scar is detached
from deeper tissue, allowing a pool of blood to form under the
scar which helps form a connective tissue under the scar,
levelling it with the surface. This procedure is usually
performed by a cosmetic surgeon.
Dermal filler. The scar is filled
with an injectable dermal filler.
Diet - many people think
that eating chocolate cause pimples.
Research has not been able to prove
any such link, but some people find
that it works this way for them. It
is possible that a person eats
chocolate when they are under a lot
of stress, and that it is actually
the stress that causes the pimples.
However, healthy eating may help.

Are you Experiencing These
Symptoms:
Acne
Blackheads and Whiteheads
Then Read This:
If you are embarrassed by your acne or afraid of
scarring, Actimine is a natural solution that
contains PROVEN ingredients to help you reduce
breakouts and clear up your skin.

Nearly 17 million Americans are currently
experiencing acne, the most common of all skin
diseases - affecting 85% of people between the
ages of 12 and 24. If you are one of these
people, we can help. Actimine is a new
all-natural supplement that may be helpful for
reducing acne and breakouts.
This is how it works...
Actimine contains natural ingredients that have
been shown to have a positive effect on acne.
Clinical trials done on the individual
ingredients show that after 6-12 weeks of use,
you may begin to notice less oil present in the
skin along with a reduction in whiteheads and
blackheads.
Many complex processes that involve different
hormones, enzymes, and immune processes cause
acne. By correcting nutrient deficiencies,
Actimine is able to balance natural body
functions that are responsible for causing acne.
This will reduce the amount of breakouts to help
your skin look as clear as possible.
Actimine Supplement
Facts
Vitamin A- Vitamin
A has been shown to reduce sebum production and
the buildup of keratin in the follicle. Vitamin
A is more effective when used in conjunction
with Vitamin E and Zinc.
Actimine Contains: 5000 IU
Selenium and Vitamin E-
When there is a Vitamin E deficiency in your
body, your levels of Vitamin A will stay low, no
matter how much you are supplementing into your
diet. When Vitamin E is restored to the diet,
Vitamin A levels normalize- this is why it is
important to use these vitamins in combination.
Actimine Contains: 50mcg & 200 IU
Vitamin E is important for its interactions with
Selenium, which is an important antioxidant
trace mineral. Selenium has been shown to have a
function in the enzyme glutathione perozidase.
This enzyme plays a crucial role in preventing
acne inflammation. Those who experience acne
usually have low levels of glutathione
perozidase. After supplementing Vitamin E and
Selenium into your diet, acne can be
significantly diminished. (1)
Zinc- Zinc is a
very important nutrient for the health of the
skin. Zinc is involved in the proper metabolism
of testosterone. When zinc levels are low, there
is an increase in the conversion of testosterone
to DHT. It is known that DHT stimulates the
manufacture of sebum and keratin which are
primary factors in causing acne. Only certain
forms of zinc have proven to be effective. These
include effervescent zinc and zinc gluconate.
(2)
Actimine Contains: 10mg
Methylsulfonyl Methane-
Has been shown to improve the permeability of
cell walls which allows nutrients to flow in and
out of cells with ease. This helps deliver
nutrients to the cells and dispose of wastes.
Actimine Contains: 1500mg
Gum Guggul Ext-
Studies have shown that Guggul Ext can
effectively help with nodulocyctic acne. A study
with 20 patients showed that Guggul is more
effective that Tetracycline. (3)
Actimine Contains: 50mg
